Never Fear Zeitigist is Here
WritingOkay, okay. Before you think anything, let me explain my new semester here at school, which also points to my, yet again, MIA status from my faithful readers.
I am…
1.) On that diet I referenced in Freshman 15, (And I’ve lost 11 pounds!)
2.) Taking 17 credit hours (translating into..a lot of homework and papers),
3.) Rushing a sorority (I just had to!)
4.) Working as a babysitter 3 nights a week,
and last but not least..
5.) In search of a love interest.
Yep, I said it. I have not been writing because I am doing almost absolutely nothing extraordinary with my life, unless you count working constantly to pay for the sorority I will (fingers crossed) be joining soon, the apartment that will be completely and totally my responsibility, and the trip to europe I am embarking on this summer!
Back to business with go. I said in my first ever post I would write about a multitude of things, club life included. As I approach my 19th birthday on sunday, I decided this week should be birthday-a-palooza for me, so a group of friends and I went out to a popular club downtown. It was your typical club scene, with too-old-for-this-crowd men, way-too-young-to-be-here girls, and a LOT of college kids trying to furiously scrub the large sharpie imposed X’s off of their hands so they can drink and not be noticed by the bouncer.
A few words about clubbing: it is hot, it is loud, and boy, is it raunchy! You just can’t dance with people anymore without them trying to press against you and try to practically dry hump you while pushing you into another couple doing the exact same thing . This is on both the male and female side, as my guy friends will point out protectively. Going out is a great time, and I definitely enjoy the scene while I’m still young, but it makes me wonder: do people actually meet, date, and have a successful relationship in the club?
As a hopeless romantic , I’m always searching (or hoping I’m being searched for) for someone. I didn’t anticipate finding that someone in the club, but I have seen people meeting and then leaving together. Am I missing the picture, or are we grazing at brand new watering holes for our love interests rather than the old fashioned way, like meeting at a bus stop or somewhere cute and cliche. Maybe I should catch a bus downtown, to the club, and see where that leads me romantically…
