Mr. Benjamin is rumored to be up for the biopic role of legendary electric guitarist, Jimi Hendrix. Benjamin, who has not seen a major studio success since “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” is also set to hit the studio with fellow Outkast member Big Boi.
It has been nearly 5 years since we all heard any good music from the hip-hop duo Outkast. One-half of the group, André 3000 has been rumored to be taking it to the movie screen again. According to Esquire.com, Mr. Benjamin is rumored to be up for the biopic role of legendary electric guitarist, Jimi Hendrix:
In contrast to those rumors is this recent Esquire interview with “Captain America” star Haley Atwell, who claims that Andre is still on tap to play Jimi Hendrix in a forthcoming biopic. Maybe. As she claims: “Next up is possibly a Jimi Hendrix biopic — an independent film with Andre 3000 from OutKast playing Jimi Hendrix. But I don’t know, really.”
It is also rumored that Big Boi and Andre 3000 are on the path to the releasing a new album some time next year:
According to Hip Hop Wired, a “rock solid industry source” has claimed that Outkast is on track to release a new album by early next year. Both Dre and Big are working on solo projects; they want those out by the end of 2011 .
